Wagner College Athletics

Andy Goveia was named the head coach of the Wagner men's and women's tennis programs in August 2026. 

Goveia spent the 2025-2026 as the head men's and women's tennis coach at LIU, where he guided the Sharks' women's team to the No. 3 seed in the NEC Tournament and the men's team to the No. 4 seed.

Prior to his promotion to head coach, Goveia spent a season as an assistant coach and helped lead the LIU men to the NEC Championship match and the women to the NEC semifinals. The men's 2025 postseason run included a semifinal victory over Wagner. 

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Goveia spent three years at the Cunningham Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y. where Goveia mentored several youth players who went on to earn top-150 junior rankings and compete in junior Grand Slam events. Goveia served as the primary coach for the tournament training program at the Christopher Morley Tennis Center. 

A native of Guyana, Goveia captured the 2007 Guyana National Junior Singles Championship and the National Senior Doubles Championship. Goveia represented Guyana on its national team from 2007-11.
