Alavid Melo Iturralde joined the Wagner men's golf coaching staff in 2026 after four seasons as a player and team captain in the program.
A native of Veracruz, Mexico, Melo Iturralde competed all four years for the Seahawks and served as team captain. He earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors and posted a runner-up finish at the Carpetbagger Classic. As a sophomore he was one of three players on the roster to compete in every event on the schedule.
Prior to Wagner, he trained as a player at the Jim McLean Golf Academy in Texas under Justin Poynter and was ranked the top player in Mexico's Zona Sur region in 2022. He attended Prepa Anáhuac in Veracruz.
As assistant coach, Melo Iturralde oversees daily practice and player development, assists with recruiting, and directs the program's performance analytics and statistical tracking.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Wagner College and is completing his M.B.A. at Wagner. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
