Former Stony Brook University standout Salome Mkervalidze enters her second year as head coach of the Wagner's Women's Tennis Program.
Mkervalidze, who most recently served as a tennis instructor at Glen Oaks Country Club, was a four-year member of the Seawolves' tennis team from 2008-2012. As a senior, she helped Stony Brook to the 2012 America East Championship and a berth in the 64-team NCAA Championship. During her standout career, Mkervalidze also earned First Team all-conference honors at No. 6 singles and a pair of Second Team accolades at No. 2 doubles.
Individually, Mkervalidze went 51-24 in singles play and 38-21 in doubles play while helping the Seawolves to a 59-21 overall record during her time on Long Island.
A standout in the classroom as well, Mkervalidze graduated with a 3.17 GPA and a degree in economics with a minor in business management. She also earned the Stony Brook Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award in April of 2012 while also garnering undergraduate recognition for outstanding achievement.
