Tessa Chad is entering her second season as an Assistant Coach for the Wagner women's lacrossse program, following a standout career at the University of Louisville.
As a senior at Louisville in 2019, Chad was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and IWLCA All-Region Second teams, in addition to being selected to play in the prestigious IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.
Â
Also a member of the ACC All-Academic Team and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, the Orono, Ontario native started all 18 games for the Cardinals as a senior and scored 56 goals on the season, good for first on the team, eighth in the ACC and 28th in the nation. Â
Â
Additionally, Chad's 3.11 goals per game average ranked seventh in ACC and 35th in the nation, her 25 free position goals led the ACC, and rank second all-time in UofL single-season history, while her 1.39 free position goals per game led the ACC and ranked eighth in the nation.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Tessa onto our staff. After coaching and playing against her, I knew she was something special," said Tumolo. "She brings experience from competing at the highest level. I'm thrilled for Tessa to share her knowledge with our team and coaching staff. She brings a fun and creative lacrosse style to Staten Island. We are lucky to have her!"Â
Â
Over the course of her two-year Louisville career, Chad totaled 98 goals, which gave her an astounding 189 for her career, as she found the net 91 times during two seasons at Canisius College, where she was the MAAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman and an All-Conference First-Team choice as a sophomore, before transferring to Louisville.
Beyond her many accomplishments as a player, which includes competing on several championship teams (U19 FIL World, Ontario Box Provincial, OWFL Provincial), Chad also boasts coaching experience, having guided the U19 Oshawa Blue Knights to an Ontario Provincial title. She also held leadership positions running camps and clinics for Code Red Lacrosse at the University of Louisville.Â
In addition to her coaching responsibilities at Wagner, Chad will also pursue an MBA during her time on Grymes Hill.
