David Sierra became the program's fourth head women's fencing coach in 2022, and the first head men's fencing coach in 2023. Sierra brings a wealth of fencing experience following a 29-year run as an athlete, referee, and coach at various clubs in USA Fencing.

Coach Sierra did undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2015, Sierra earned the Fencing Master Certification from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA). He also currently serves as the Education Manager for the USFCA, helping to design curriculum and certification systems for fencing coaches across the country. He has been a three-weapon national level referee for USA Fencing since 1998, and has served that organization in a number of capacities including on the Board of Directors from 2008-2010.  Sierra is also one of 70 active, fully accredited, three-weapon fencing masters in the US. 

As a coach, Sierra's private tutees have earned over 30 gold medals at the national level, and he served as the Women's Sabre Team Captain for team USA at the 2026 Veteran World Championships.

Before moving to the tri-state area in 2021, Coach Sierra ran a highly successful club in Fort Worth, Texas, placing students across the NCAA including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Brandeis, Air Force, and Stevens Institute of Technology. He also currently operates and coaches at the Richmond County Fencing Center on Staten Island.
