David Sierra

David Sierra

David Sierra became the program's fourth head women's fencing coach in 2022. Sierra brings a wealth of fencing experience following a 29-year run as an athlete, referee, and coach at various clubs in USA Fencing.

Coach Sierra did undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio and graduate studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2015, Sierra earned the Fencing Master Certification from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA). He also currently serves as the Education Manager for the USFCA, helping to design curriculum and certification systems for fencing coaches across the country. He has been a three-weapon national level referee for USA Fencing since 1998, and has served that organization in a number of capacities including on the Board of Directors from 2008-2010.  

Before moving to the tri-state area in 2021, Coach Sierra ran a highly successful club in Fort Worth, Texas, placing students across the NCAA including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Brandeis, Air Force, and Stevens Institute of Technology. He also currently coaches at the Atlantic Fencing Academy in Tinton Falls, NJ as the Sabre Program Lead Coach.
