Olamide Aborowa is entering her second season as the
Director of Women’s Basketball Operations, after a four-year collegiate career as a player at the University of Texas at Austin, where she appeared in 96 games for the Longhorns and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Global Studies.
In her last season, Aborowa appeared in 32 of the team’s 33 overall games, as the Longhorns advanced to the First Round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship after finishing the regular season with a 23-10 overall record and a 12-6 mark in the Big 12 Conference.
In the classroom, Aborowa was a five-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient, which included being named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team back in 2016. She served on the Big 12 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where she represented the University of Texas athletics department at all Big 12 SAAC meetings while serving as an advocate and representative for the student-athletes on a variety of topics.
Additionally, she served as the team representative on the Executive Committee for the UT SAAC, where she would lead in discussions with the UT faculty members and athletic administration to present the student-athlete perspective on a wide-awry of topics.
Aborowa was a camp coach for the Longhorns Summer Camp, where she mentored a group of 15 girls (ages 7-11) in cultivating leadership, teamwork, and critical problem-solving skills. On the court during this camp, she instructed campers in basketball techniques.
In the fall of 2014, Aborowa was a student-assistant with the United States Junior National Basketball Association, where she managed business transactions, not limited to merchandise and ticket sales for various events.
Before arriving at the University of Texas, Aborowa attended Saints John Neumman and Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA, playing for head coach Letty Santarelli, where she ranked No. 77 overall and top-15 at the forward position in her class, according to ESPN.com. She led Neumann-Goretti to a 29-1 record and the Philadelphia Catholic League title in her junior season.
Aborowa’s journey to playing basketball began in her home country of Lagos, Nigeria. Prior to arriving in America, she served as a camp mentor to over 50 young girls from countries around Africa as a camp counselor at Hope for Girls Camp.
Aborowa will oversee Wagner’s travel arrangements and equipment along with team’s film exchange, managers, assist with camp coordination and aid the coaching staff in day-to-day operations of the program.
In addition, Aborowa will be pursuing her Masters of Business Administration in Marketing.
