Joe Wuensch Jr

No stranger to the New York area, Wuensch Jr began his softball career in 1983 playing for
local teams winning several championships. In particular, Wuensch played for perennial National
contender, Granite Athletic Club of the ASA Men’s Major Modified fastpitch division, appearing in
eight National Championship tournaments.
 
Wuensch also played in two National Police Olympic games representing the NYPD/PBA in
Puerto Rico.
 
Wuensch started his coaching career in 1995 for the ADCO Electrical Softball Club
representing the ASA of Southern New York (USA Softball of New York City) for both the Men's Fast
Pitch and Modified Fast Pitch divisions. Wuensch’s ADCO team won a National Championship in
2006.
 
Wuensch moved on as head coach in 2009 at St Joseph Hill Academy High School, making
five playoff appearances. In 2015, he became a volunteer assistant coach at Wagner College,
working with the outfielders and catchers under Head coach Glen Payne.
 
From 2016 to 2020, Wuensch was an assistant coach at Moore Catholic High School, who
won two New York state championships in that period.
 
During that time, Wuensch was also co-Director for a girl's travel organization, Staten Island
Fast Pitch.
 
Most recently, Wuensch spent 2022 at Fontbonne Hall Academy serving as the assistant
coach for their varsity team while also coaching for the Empire Fast Pitch travel organization out of
Brooklyn, NY. 
 
Wuensch is a graduate of the NYPD Academy and FDNY Academy and retired from the NYPD
in 2013 after 29 years of service.
