Will Manny

Former University of Massachusetts First-Team All-American Will Manny, who is currently a standout attackman for the Boston Cannons of the Major Lacrosse League, was named assistant coach at Wagner in July, 2014 and is in his second season on the Seahawk staff.

A Massapequa, NY, native, Manny brought a stellar lacrosse resume to Grymes Hill. A 2013 UMass graduate where he earned a B.A. in Resource Economics, Manny capped a brilliant collegiate career ranked No. 5 in Minutemen history with 201 points, which came on 107 goals and 94 assists in 55 games. He was also one of just three UMass players to ever record at least 100 goals and 90 assists.

In 2012, he was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, given to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player, and the sport's equivalent of football's Heisman Trophy.

Manny was also a 2012 USILA First Team All-America (2012), the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year that year, an honor which he earned two years after bring named the 2010 CAA Rookie of the Year. A four-time All-CAA honoree, he led UMass in assists all four seasons from his attack position, while pacing the Minutemen in points from 2010-12 and goals in 2010 and 2012.

Selected in the second round (14th overall) of the 2013 MLL Draft by the Cannons, Manny was was a teammate of Poskay's that aseason. He was named  MLL Rookie of the Week on June 25, 2013 after recording five points (1 g, 4 a) during a 16-12 win over New York and finished the 2013 season with 30 points on 18 goals and 12 assists, good for a spot among the top 25 scorers in the league.
In 2014, Manny was the fifth-leading scorer in the MLL with 52 points on 36 goals and 16 assist and wss named the Boston Cannons Offensive Player of the Year.  In September, he had the distinction of being named to the 2014 U.S Men's National Team, an announcement that came on the heels of his becoming a Brand Ambassador for TheLocker, an athlete-focused social commerce platform that makes it easy to share, collect and buy sports products founded by two-time NCAA All-American and former US National Lacrosse Team member, Sean Morris.

"I'm tremendously excited to add Will Manny to the Wagner's men's lacrosse program," said Seahawk head coach Matt Poskay. "Will beings instant credibility with him as both a former All-American player and as a current professional athlete. He grew up in the game of lacrosse, competing in one of the sport's hotbeds on Long Island and for a great high school program.

"As a former teammate of Will's, I've seen first-hand his passion and love for the game, and I think he will do great things for Wagner as we continue to build the program," Poskay continued.

During the past year, Manny has also served the past year as Director of Program Development/Recruiting Advisor at Prime Time Lacrosse, one of the nation's top player development programs. Manny has spent each of the past 10 summers working at his alma mater, St. Anthony's High School in South Huntingdon, NY, assisting with the Friars' summer camp. His duties there have included the tutoring of young lacrosse players, organizing daily events, and supervising camp counselors.

In addition to his duties within the Seahawk men's lacrosse program, Manny will also pursue a Masters of Business Administration here at Wagner.
