2018 (Junior Season): Ran in five meets... Placed fifth at the Highlander XC Challenge (10/6), crossing the finish line at the 8K meet in 26:07.0... Had a top-15 performance at the Henry Mercer Invitational (9/22), finishing with a time of 28:38.98 in the 5K event... Placed among the top-20 at the NEC Cross Country Championship (10/27), clocking in with a time of 27:05.5. 

2017 (Sophomore Season): Competed in five meets… Finished in the top-five at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge (10/7), when he crossed the finish line in fifth with a time of 26:48.40… Ranked among the top-ten at the Hofstra Quad (9/8), when he clocked in with a time of 16:47.70.

2016 (Freshman Season): Competed in four races during the 2016 cross country campaign… Placed inside the Top-10 at the NJIT Highlander Challenge (10/8/16), where he turned in a seventh-place showing with a time of 26:42.62… Finished among the Top-15 at the Monmouth University Invitational (9/17/16), crossing the finish line with a time of 28:47.8.

Before Wagner:  Attended St. Joseph by the Sea High School in the nearby Huguenot section of Staten Island, NY... A four-year Honor Roll selection... Was a member of the cross country and track and field teams for the Vikinngs, under the direction of Chris Mancusi... Named SI Advance All-Star... Tabbed  as Indoor Islands & Cities Most Valuable Player.... During the outdoor season, named Track Athlete of the Year... Is conversational in Spanish and Japanese... Son of Jorge Velez and Juliana Navarrete... Has two siblings, Mateo and Thomas... Is undeclared on a major at Wagner.
