Dan Hurley

Dan Hurley is in his second year as head coach at Wagner College after helping the Seahawks to a nation-best eight-win improvement among first-year coaches in 2010-2011. Hurley, who built St. Benedict’s Prep of Newark, NJ into one of the nation’s top high school programs, led the Green & White to 13 wins and a sixth-place finish in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while surpassing many prognosticators' predictions.

Wagner, which was predicted to finish 11th in the 12-team NEC, went 13-17 and a solid 9-9 during league play in his first season. Hurley led the Seahawks to an overtime victory against defending NEC Champion Robert Morris as well as sweeping the season series from preseason pick Quinnipiac before taking eventual Regular Season and Tournament Champion Long Island to overtime.

Under Hurley's tutelage, rising senior Tyler Murray blossomed into one of the top players in the NEC en route to garnering First Team All-Conference honors. Murray increased his scoring by over eight points to 16.9 points per game while also overseeing the development of rising sophomore Latif Rivers, who averaged 13.9 points per game and was named to the NEC All-Rookie Team.

Following a successful prep career, Hurley headed to Seton Hall where he graduated in 1996. While with the Pirates, he played under former Wagner head coach P.J. Carlesimo and current UConn Associate coach George Blaney. For his career, Hurley scored 1,070 points while helping the Pirates to three NCAA Tournament appearances and one berth in the NIT.
