Steven Funk

Steven Funk enters his third season as equipment manager for the Seahawk football program in 2017, having served for three years as an undergraduate student assistant at Randolph-Macon College.

Funk played football at Randolph-Macon before suffering a career-ending injury. After his playing career came to an abrupt end, he joined the coaching staff at R-MC. He coached the tight ends and H-backs for the Yellow Jackets during spring ball in 2015, while spearheading an entire student assistant staff. During his senior season, he assisted with the defensive coaching staff and more specifically, mentored the defensive line and defensive scout teams.

As a student-athlete, Funk contributed to the offensive scout team and competed for playing time as a freshman. During his first year as a student assistant he worked as a video coordinator, filming all of practices and games. Funk's responsibilities grew into his junior year when he was brought back to the sidelines to mentor the offensive line.

His other duties included prepping the field for practices and games, charting play calls on game day, software management during team meetings, and serving as an assistant to the director of football operations.

A native of Northern Virginia, Funk was a three-year varsity starter and letterman at Mount Vernon High School. Funk was on the Dean's List since his freshman year of college before receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication Studies from Randolph-Macon in May 2015.

In addition to his duties with the Seahawk football staff, he is also pursuing a Master of Arts in Education.
