Nick Pavia

Former Wagner Seahawk hurler, Nick Pavia ('14) returns to his alma mater, as he will serve as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Jim Carone announced on September 19. Pavia will work with the outfielders and assist with the pitching staff in his new role.

A Staten Island native who starred at St. Joseph by the Sea High School before arriving on Grymes Hill, Pavia pitched for the Seahawks from 2011-2016.  After appearing in five games in 2011, the Todt Hill resident made 11 appearances in 2012, while making eight starts, hurling 36.1 innings and recording 26 strikeouts.

Pavia earned his first collegiate win at Lafayette in 2012, striking out three batters without allowing a single walk over five frames.

In 2013 and most of 2014, Pavia was sidelined due to injury, but that didn't keep his drive down. He returned to the Seahawk pitching staff in 2015 and was one of the most effective arms for the Seahawks, who wound up winning 27 games and clinching the No. 2 seed in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament that season.

In 2015, Pavia appeared in 15 games while making four starts, posting a 1-0 record as a starter while finishing with a 4-1 record with a 2.92 ERA and a save to his credit. In his four starts, he tossed 16.2 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .218 average.

Against Fordham back on March 24, the right hander allowed one hit and a run over five innings despite not factoring in the final decision. He earned his first career save as Wagner secured a 12-6 victory over Central Connecticut, going three innings while allowing just a run and striking out a batter and walking one.

In 2016, his final season, Pavia made five starts in 24.1 innings while appearing out of the bullpen 16 times in 26.1 innings, picking up three saves, which tied him for the team lead with former teammate Nathan Hunt ('16). Pavia struck out 19 batters as a reliever, second most out of the pen. Pavia thrived when facing batters with two outs, as he held them to just a .172 average.

Pavia received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration while he also earned his MBA with a concentration in Management.
