This Week in Wagner Athletics; Eight Teams in Action as Field Hockey and Women’s Soccer Begin Conference Action

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 
 

Field Hockey

- The Seahawks begin NEC play by traveling to Mercyhurst for a 2:00 p.m. start on Friday Sept. 18. 

- Two days later, Wagner will host Patriot League member Lehigh at the Field Hockey Complex on Sunday, Sept. 20. 

- The start time between the Seahawks and the Mountain Hawks is set for 1:00 p.m.

 

Football

- Wagner hits the road for the second straight week, facing ACC member California on Saturday, Sept. 19. 

- This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT (3:30 p.m. ET) at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, California.


Men's Cross Country

- The Seahawks compete in their second meet of the season on Friday, Sept. 18, a trip to the LIU Fall Festival on the Sharks' Post campus in Brookville, New York.

- Coming off a third-place finish in its season opener at Back to the Bowl, Wagner will begin facing conference competition in this week's meet. 


Men's Golf

- Wagner travels to Erie, Pennsylvania to compete in the Laker Fall Invitational, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Lake View Country Club from Sunday, Sept. 20, through Monday, Sept. 21.

- The two-day tournament provides the Seahawks with an early head-to-head preview against Mercyhurst, one of the NEC's newest Division I additions.


Men's Water Polo

- Wagner heads to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to compete in the Bucknell Invite at Kinney Natatorium, beginning with a matchup against Salem on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:00 p.m.

- The Seahawks conclude the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 20, with a doubleheader against host Bucknell at 11:00 a.m. followed by Mercyhurst at 3:00 p.m.


Triathlon

- The Seahawks embark on their 2026 slate on Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Duquesne Invitational.

- The meet is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. at Brady's Run Park. 


Women's Cross Country

- Wagner hits the road for the LIU Fall Festival on Friday, Sept. 18, competing on the Sharks' Post campus in Brookville, New York. 

- The Seahawks are coming off their season opener at Back to the Bowl, where the team took second place of eight teams competing. 


Women's Soccer  

- Wagner opens NEC action on Sunday, Sept. 20, hosting Central Connecticut State in a rematch of the 2025 NEC Championship game, which the Seahawks won, 2-1. 

- Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. on Hameline Field.
