EASTON, Pa. – The Wagner women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Lafayette on Sunday afternoon at Gummeson Grounds.
After a scoreless opening half, Lafayette broke through in the 71st minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Leopards then added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to seal the 2-0 victory.
The Seahawks generated three shots on the afternoon, including Wagner's lone shot on goal from sophomore Riley Frederick in the first half. Juniors Anayah Rivera and Kelly Gallagher each added a shot for the Green & White.
Junior goalkeeper Abigail Marcello recorded seven saves while facing 16 Lafayette shots. The Leopards held a 16-3 advantage in shots with 12 of those coming in the second half and a narrow 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
The Seahawks return to Grymes Hill on Thursday, Sept. 3, when they host NJIT in a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
