STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner College women's lacrosse team fell to the Stonehill Skyhawks by a score of 15-13 on Wednesday afternoon on Hameline Field.
The Seahawks (4-8, 4-2 NEC) led by five goals at the end of the first half. Wagner held a 3-2 lead after the first quarter and a 9-4 lead after two quarters of play.
Senior Emily Ryan scored three goals in her second game back this season, with all scores coming in the first half. Senior Kristina Pisano scored a pair of goals along with junior Amelia Logan who scored two in the first 30 minutes.
Sophomore Sydney Mulroony and junior Lea Cini also added a first half goal to round out Wagner's nine goals.
In the second half, the Skyhawks (8-6, 5-1 NEC) outscored the Seahawks, 11-4, with a 5-0 fourth quarter to seal the win. Wagner led 13-10 after three quarters of play.
At the end of regulation, Stonehill prevailed, 15-13.
For Wagner, Kristina Pisano scored all four of the Green & White's second half goals to end with six scores and two assists. For Stonehill, Grace Murphy and Natalie Coutu combined for 11 of the Skyhawks' 15 goals.
Mulroony added three draw controls and five caused turnovers to her stat line. Sophomore Julia Kozlowski earned two caused turnovers. As a team, the Seahawks took 30 shots with 19 on target compared to 28 shots from Stonehill with 14 on net. Next up,
Wagner hosts CCSU on Saturday, April 11 for an 11 a.m. start on Hameline Field. The Wagner College women's lacrosse program will honor five student-athletes prior to Saturday's game against the Blue Devils.
