BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Redshirt freshman
Lukas Escher earned his third NEC Rookie of the Week nod of the season, the conference announced on Tuesday.
In the Seahawks' only match of the week on April 4, Escher won each of his matches in the doubles and singles rounds against Le Moyne. In a sweep of the doubles point, Escher joined his sophomore doubles partner
Eddie Schmidt and defeated the Dolphins on court 1, 6-2. Their win was the first of the day for the Seahawks, and kicked off a string of five unanswered wins to ultimately sweep the Dolphins, 4-0.
In the singles round, Escher won his match first with a straight-set victory on court 2, blanking his opponent in the first set 6-0, before securing the point with a 6-3 second-set win.
Additionally, Schmidt was named a Prime Performer by the NEC. Along with joining Escher in the doubles win, Schmidt won his singles round match in straight sets on court 1 (6-2, 6-4) and helped Wagner secure the shutout victory.
The Seahawks will return to the courts on Saturday, April 11, when they take on Army at the Malek Tennis Center. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
