STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The men's tennis team will start the spring portion of their schedule with a home match against Sacred Heart on Friday, Feb 6.
Last season, the Seahawks turned heads after earning the bottom seed in the NEC Tournament, then upsetting second-seeded Le Moyne 4-3 before bowing out in the semifinals to LIU, 4-1. This season, the NEC coaches voted Wagner fifth out of nine teams in the preseason poll, two spots higher than last season, when it placed seventh out of seven.
In the fall portion of the schedule, the Seahawks went 3-0 with duel wins against Holy Cross, Lafayette and Coppin State. Individually, sophomore
Eddie Schmidt reached the semifinals of the NateRentals.com Binghamton Championships in September, while redshirt freshman
Lukas Escher earned a Prime Performer nod in October.
Wagner returns two of its four 2025 All-NEC recipients. Graduate student
Gabriele Zugarelli earned a spot on the All-NEC doubles second team, while sophomore
Eddie Schmidt earned an All-NEC Rookie team spot.
The match is set to start at 7 p.m EST on the CSI Tennis Courts.
