This Week in Wagner Athletics; Eight Teams in Action as Men’s Basketball Hosts Senior Day on Saturday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 
 

Baseball 

- The Seahawks take on Big East member Seton Hall for a one-game midweek matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Owen T. Carroll Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

- Wagner travels to ACC member Maryland from Friday, Feb 27 to Sunday, March 1 for a weekend series against the Terrapins. Friday's game will start at 4 p.m., Saturday's at 2 p.m., and Sunday's first pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Bob 'Turtle' Smith Stadium. 

 

Men's Basketball 

- Wagner hosts conference newcomer New Haven at the Spiro Sports Center for a 7 p.m. tip on Thursday, Feb. 26. The Seahawks will close their regular-season schedule Saturday, Feb. 28, welcoming Chicago State for a 1 p.m. tip-off.

- Graduate student Travis Gray was named an NEC Prime Performer this week after posting consecutive double-doubles. In Wagner's win at Mercyhurst, the Syracuse, N.Y., native recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, then followed with 27 points and 11 rebounds in the victory at Saint Francis.

 

Men's Lacrosse 

- Wagner travels to CAA member Hampton for an 11 a.m. start on Armstrong Field on Saturday, Feb. 28.

- Most recently, freshman attacker Dylan Popehn was named the NEC Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals with one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnovers across two games at Monmouth and UMass Lowell. 

 

Softball

- The Seahawks will travel to Orlando, FL and compete in the Charge On Classic at the campus of UCF from Feb. 27 to March 1. 

- The first day on Feb. 27 will see Wagner take on Ivy League opponent Dartmouth at 12:30 p.m., then Wagner will face host UCF at 6 p.m.

- On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Seahawks will play an early game against Florida A&M starting at 9 a.m., then after a short break, will take on George Washington at 2 p.m.

- The last game of the Classic will be another early game, a rematch with Dartmouth on Sunday, March 1 at 9 a.m.

 

Women's Basketball 

- The Green & White play in two road games this week.

- First, Wagner heads to NEC newcomer New Haven on Thursday, Feb. 26. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at The Hazell Center

- After their matchup with the Chargers, the Seahawks take a flight to Chicago State for a 2 p.m. EST tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Jones Convocation Center.

 

Women's Lacrosse  

- The Seahawks head to America East member UMBC for a noon start on Saturday, Feb. 28 at UMBC Stadium.

 

Women's Tennis

- Wagner will play its third straight home match to start their spring season when they host Monmouth on Sunday, March 1, at the CSI Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

 

Women's Water Polo  

-The Seahawks will travel to the Harvard Invite in Providence, RI.

- Wagner will face Bucknell on Saturday, February 28, at 11 a.m., and Brown later in the afternoon at 3 p.m..

-The Green & White will wrap up with the Harvard Invite on Sunday, March 1, where Wagner will play against Marist at 10:30 a.m. in Cambridge, MA.
