This Week in Wagner Athletics; Six Teams in Action as Swimming & Diving Teams Begin Respective 2026 Schedules

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 

 

Men's Basketball

- Wagner continues NEC play this week with a pair of home contests at the Spiro Sports Center. The Seahawks will host defending NEC champion Saint Francis on Thursday, January 8, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m., before welcoming Mercyhurst on Saturday, January 10, at 1:00 p.m.

- Wagner opened conference action last week with a 79–72 road victory at Chicago State on Friday before dropping a 69–60 decision to Stonehill on Sunday. 

 

Men's Swimming & Diving

- Wagner travels to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Florida Atlantic at the FAU Swim Complex for their first meet of 2026 on Friday, January 9. 

- First events are set for 10:00 a.m.

 

Men's Track & Field

- Resuming indoor season in 2026, Wagner heads to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Spartan Invite, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday, January 9. 

- This will be the last meet for the Seahawks where Wagner does not host, with the Wagner College Invitational coming up on Saturday, January 17.

 

Women's Basketball 

- The Seahawks continue their young conference season with two road games this week. 

- Wagner travels to Saint Francis for a matchup with the Red Flash on Thursday, January 8. Tip-off for Thursday's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in DeGol Arena.

- Two days later, the Green & White stay on the road to Mercyhurst for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, January 10 at Owen McCormick Court.

 

Women's Swimming & Diving

- The Seahawks will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Florida Atlantic and North Texas at the FAU Swim Complex for their first meet of 2026 on Friday, January 9. 

- First events are set for 10:00 a.m.

 

Women's Track & Field

- Returning to the track for the first time in 2026, the Seahawks will be competing in the Spartan Invite on Friday, January 9, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas.

- This will be the first of a pair of meets for Wagner at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex before the Seahawks hit the road the first time this indoor season.
