Football Travels to Nation’s Capital to Face Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the first time since 2014 and the sixth time overall, Wagner will face Georgetown on Saturday, September 6. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Cooper Field, with live coverage on ESPN+ featuring Jeremy Huber and Derwin Gray on the call.

The all-time series between the Seahawks and Hoyas dates back to 2000, with Georgetown holding a 3-2 advantage. Wagner claimed the most recent meeting in Washington, D.C., earning a 21-3 victory in 2014.

Georgetown (1-0) opened its season in dominant fashion with a 51-14 road win at Davidson on August 30. Quarterbacks Danny Lauter (11-of-16, 135 yards, 1 TD) and Dez Thomas II (6-of-7, 126 yards, 1 TD) powered the passing attack, while the Hoyas controlled the ground game with 292 rushing yards. Defensive back Brian Allen was named Patriot League Freshman of the Week after registering six tackles. Last season, Georgetown finished 5-6 overall and 2-4 in Patriot League play.

Wagner (0-1) enters its second non-conference matchup of the season following a 46-7 road loss to Big 12 member Kansas. Sophomore quarterback Jack Stevens went 13-of-20 for 90 yards and one touchdown, finding senior Jeremiah Colclough for a 45-yard score—the Seahawks' longest play of the night. Graduate student Andre Hines Jr. led Wagner on the ground with 25 rushing yards on eight carries. Defensively, senior Sam Martin paced the Seahawks with seven tackles, junior Freddie Camp added six, and senior Jayden Brown recorded an interception of Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels that landed at #3 on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.

Head coach Tom Masella brings history into Saturday's contest, boasting a 5-1 all-time record against Georgetown during his tenure at Fordham (2006–11).

Following the trip to Georgetown, Wagner will open its home slate on Hameline Field against Marist on Saturday, September 13. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
