This Week in Wagner Athletics; Ten Teams in Action as Field Hockey and Women’s Soccer Begin Conference Play

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 
 

Field Hockey

- Wagner will begin conference play as the Seahawks will host Fairfield in a rematch of the 2024 NEC Championship game on Friday, September 19 at 3:00 pm at the Field Hockey Complex.

- The Green & White then hit the road for a 6:00 pm matchup at conference newcomer New Haven on Sunday, September 21 on Johnson Field in West Haven, CT.
 

Football

- Wagner will head to Mount Pleasant, Mich for a matchup with FBS member Central Michigan on Saturday, September 20. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

- Graduate student Andre Hines Jr. was named an NEC Prime Performer after posting 106 yards and one touchdown against Marist last week.
 

Men's Cross Country

- The Seahawks head to the Ted Owen Invite, hosted by CCSU, on Saturday, September 20. The meet will be held at Stanley Quarter Park, home course of the Blue Devils and host site for last season's Northeast Conference Championship, where the Seahawks finished runners up. 

- Wagner has one second-place finish under their belt after scoring 50 team points at Back to the Bowl to open the season. 
 

Men's Tennis

- The Seahawks will embark on their 2025 fall campaign at the NEC Individuals in Binghamton from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21.

Men's Water Polo

- Wagner will be facing the first conference teams at the Bucknell Invite against Mercyhurst on Sep 20 at 11AM  and Bucknell on Sep 21 at 1PM in David M. Hallman III Aquatic Center at Erie, PA.
 

Triathlon

- Wagner will begin its 2025 season on Saturday, September 20 at the Duquesne Invitational in Beaver Falls, PA under first year head coach Ross Lippe.

- Last season, the Seahawks finished 12th at NCAA Nationals.
 

Women's Cross Country

- The Seahawks will be competing at CCSU's Ted Owen Invite on Saturday, September 20. Held at Stanley Quarter Park, the site was the location for the 2024 Northeast Conference Championship, where Wagner finished third last season. 

- Wagner won its opening meet at Back to the Bowl, scoring 23 team points, with senior Angela Cavalieri taking home the individual win. 
 

Women's Golf 

- The Seahawks are competing in Battle at the Creek from Sunday, September 14 to Tuesday, September 16.
 

Women's Soccer

- Wagner is set to take on CCSU on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 pm at the CCSU Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in New Britain, Conn at 6:00 pm. 

- The Seahawks will be back on Hameline Field on Sunday, September 21 against Mercyhurst at 1:00 pm.
 

Women's Tennis

- Wagner will continue its 2025 fall season at the NEC Individuals in Binghamton from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21.

- Most recently, the Seahawks started their fall season at the Columbia Invite this upcoming weekend where junior Dariana Vera and sophomore Victoria Madail emerged victorious, 6-3, in a doubles match against Stony Brook.
