This Week In Wagner Athletics; Eleven Teams In Action As Women’s Golf Gets Set For NEC Tournament

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 


Baseball

- Coming off a three-game week where the Seahawks won their third consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) series, Wagner will head to Iona on Wednesday, April 9 for a 3:30 pm rematch with the Gaels. 

- The two teams last played Wednesday, March 19 when Wagner took a 13-10 win.

- The Green & White will then travel to NJIT on Friday, April 11. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
 

Men's Golf

- Wagner will compete at the Jasper Spring Collegiate hosted by Manhattan from Friday, April 11 to Saturday, April 12. The event will take place at The Summit Club in Armonk, NY.

- Last time out, juniors Renato Gerena and Alavid Melo Iturralde were named NEC Prime Performers

- This will be the teams last match before the NEC Championships, which will take place from Friday, April 25 to Monday, April 28 in Williamsburg, VA at the Kingsmill Resort River Course.

 

Men's Lacrosse

- Wagner will travel to Detroit, MI for its first matchup against NEC newcomer affiliate member Detroit Mercy on Saturday, April 12.

- Opening face-off for the Seahawks-Titans meeting is set for 12:00 pm.

 

Men's Tennis

- Wagner will be traveling to Brookville, NY to take on the NEC rival Long Island Sharks on Friday, April 11. 

- The first set will start at 2 pm.

 

Men's Track & Field

- Heading to Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic starting Saturday, April 12, the Seahawks are looking to build on what was an eleventh-place finish at the Colonial Relays. 

- The men's team combined for nine top-ten finishes at the Colonial Relays.

- The Classic opens on Friday, April 12 and concludes on Saturday, April 13.

 

Softball

- The Seahawks will be hosting a series of three games against NEC rival Stonehill over the weekend. 

- The doubleheader will start on Saturday, April 12 with game one starting at 1pm and game two starting at 3pm.

- They will conclude the series on Sunday, April 13 with game three starting at 12 pm.


Women's Golf

- The Seahawks will compete at the NEC Championships this weekend from Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 13 at the Kingsmill Resort Plantation Course in Williamsburg, VA

 

Women's Lacrosse

- The Seahawks take on Delaware State on Wednesday, April 9. Opening draw control is set for 5:00 pm in Dover, DE.

- Wagner then will travel to New Britain, CT for a matchup with conference opponent CCSU on Saturday, April 12. Opening draw control against the Blue Devils is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

- The Green & White are currently riding a four-game winning streak in conference play. 

 

Women's Tennis

- Wagner will be traveling to Brookville, NY to take on NEC rival Long Island Sharks on Friday, April 11. The first set will start at 1 PM.

 

Women's Track & Field

- Wagner is looking to build on a big fourth-place performance at the Colonial Relays as they head to Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic. 

- The Seahawks had ten top-ten finishes over the weekend, with seven of those being top-three.

- The Classic opens on Friday, April 12 and concludes on Saturday, April 13.

 

Women's Water Polo

- The Seahawks are back in action on Saturday, April 12 at 12:00 pm in Steinberg Wellness Center Pool hosted by LIU and on Sunday April 13 against La Salle at 12:00 PM and No. 25 LIU at 5:30 PM at the Spiro Sports Center Pool. 

- Prior to the game against LIU at 5:30, nine seniors will be honored on Senior Night.
