Box Score Syracuse, NY — Wagner was hitting with power on Saturday, finishing with four home runs and nine total extra-base hits in a 13-7 win that gave the Seahawks the series win.
The two teams combined to hit seven total home runs in Saturday's game, with Wagner holding the Dolphins to seven runs on seven hits.
Wagner used four total arms after Le Moyne got to starter Heitaro Hayashi early in the game. He and junior Andrew Ravelo gave up six runs in 2.1 innings after the Dolphins put up a five-run third inning. From there, juniors Justin Roitman and Jason Masick went 3.2 and 3.0 innings, respectively, and combined to allow just two hits and one run.
Roitman's record is now 1-1 this season in 14.1 innings pitched across 10 appearances. Masick earned a third save with the performance. The Seahawks combined to strike out 13 Le Moyne batters, with Roitman striking out six and Masick adding six of his own.
Eight of Wagner's nine batters finished with a hit and six of those eight were multi-hit performances.
Sophomore Joseph Mennella was the hottest hitter of them all, going 4-of-5 with two home runs, four runs and four RBIs. The first home run came in the seventh, a solo shot to push Wagner's lead to 9-6, then it was a two-run homer in the eighth to make it a 13-6 lead.
Graduate senior Xavier Ulrich went 3-of-3 with a home run of his own in the fourth inning, adding two runs, three RBIs and a walk to round out the day. That home run tied the game at 6-6 going into the fifth.
Freshman Matt Sutera also had three RBIs on Saturday, with a 1-of-4 performance at the plate that included his second home run of the season. It was a three-run shot in the top of the first, a hit that pushed Wagner's lead to 5-0 heading to the bottom of the first.
The Seahawks scored those five runs on six hits, then added Ulrich's home run in the fourth to tie things up. Wagner added two more runs in the top of the fifth to take an 8-5 lead.
Le Moyne had a solo home run of its own in the bottom of the frame, but the Seahawks answered against with five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to ultimately give them the 13-7 win.
Senior Lukas Torres, junior Nicholas Mazzotta, senior Bryce Phelps and sophomore Connor Roche each added a pair of hits.
Next up, the Seahawks have a rematch with Iona on Wednesday, April 9 in a 3:30 p.m. EST game. Wagner hosted the Gaels on Wednesday, March 19 in what was a 13-10 win for the Seahawks.
