Men's Basketball Announces The Signing Of Three Seahawks To 2025-26 Roster

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College head men's basketball coach Donald Copeland has announced the addition of three Seahawks to the upcoming 2025-26 roster. 
 

Eduardo Placer | G | Junior | Orlando, FL | Daytona State/USC Upstate

Eduardo Placer spent his first season of collegiate hoops at Big South member USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. During his lone season as a Spartan, Placer appeared in 24 games making two starts against conference opponents Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian. Across 7.8 minutes of game action, Placer averaged 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assist per contest. The Central Florida Christian Academy product scored a season-high 16 points against Gulf Coast Athletic Conference member Voorhees University on November 25, 2023. 

Most recently, Placer spent the 2024-25 season at Mid-Florida Conference member Daytona State, a Division I National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Regions 8 member located in Daytona Beach, FL. As a member of the Falcons, Placer played in 32 games, starting 29. Placer averaged 9.5 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assist per game in 21.8 minutes of game time on 42.7% from the field, highlighted by a 23-point performance against Northwest Florida State College on November 9, 2024. The Orlando, FL native scored in double-figures 14 times with Daytona Beach, and surpassed the 20-point mark on three separate occasions. During this past November, Placer averaged 13.1 points per game on 55.3% from the floor across nine games played.

 


Bryan Akanmu | F | Junior | Paris, France | Vincennes/McCook CC

Bryan Akanmu spent his first season of collegiate basketball at McCook Community College in McCook, NE. Akanmu appeared in 32 games, starting every game. The Paris, France native averaged 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one steal on 44% from the floor across an average of 25.5 minutes of game action. Akanmu scored a season-high 30 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 80-69 win at #6 Northeastern Junior College on February 10, 2024. While a member of the Indians, Akanmu scored double-digits 23 separate times, eclipsing the 20-point mark on three separate occasions. 

Last season, Akanmu played for Mid-West Athletic Conference member Vincennes University, an Division I NJCAA Region 24 member located in Vincennes, Indiana. While with the Trail Blazers, Akanmu played in 33 games, starting 32, and averaged 9.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists per contest. Akanmu ended his 2024-25 campaign Akanmu scored double-digits in 17 games in 33 games, including scoring above ten points in eight of his last nine games. Akanmu earned himself five double-doubles, highlighted by a 22-point 11-rebound performance on 10-13 from the floor against Lake Land College on February 22, 2025. Akanmu received 2025 NJCAA Division I All-Region 24 honors during his season as a Trail Blazer. 

 


Michael Cooper | F | Junior | Minneapolis, MN | Vincennes/North Platte CC

Michael Cooper spent his first season of college athletics at North Platte Community College in North Platte, NE. As a member of the Knights, Cooper appeared in 28 games, starting 26 of them, averaging 11.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest across 20.1 minutes of action. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native shot an efficient 48.8% from the floor while at North Platte, to go along with a 44% success rate from beyond-the-arc. Cooper scored in double-figures during 17 games, punctuated by a 19-point performance at Otero College on March 9. Cooper grabbed double-figure rebounds on three separate occasions, including a 14-rebound showing at Trinidad State College on January 9. 

Last year, Cooper appeared in 32 games for Mid-West Athletic Conference member Vincennes University along with now Seahawk-teammate Bryan Akanmu. While on the Trail Blazers' roster, Cooper started 20 games, averaging 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and one steal per game. Cooper scored double-figures 20 times during his lone season at Vincennes, surpassing the 20-point mark on seven different occasions. Cooper also grabbed double-digit rebounds in seven contests. Cooper received 2025 NJCAA Division I All-Region 24 honors during his year as a Trail Blazers.


Both Akanmu and Cooper helped Vincennes to a 28-5 record this past season, with a mark of 16-0 in Region 24 play during the regular season. The Trailblazers received the #14 seed at the 2025 NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament, making it as far as the National Quarterfinals. Vincennes secured its twelfth National Tournament appearance in its last 13 seasons.
