FLUSHING, N.Y. — Wagner men's tennis won their first dual match of the fall season when it defeated Holy Cross 6-1 on Saturday.
Before the match, the Seahawks participated in a junior tennis clinic with children from the City Parks foundation. They showed the participants what a college tennis practice entails and answered questions about their experiences as collegiate athletes.
After that wrapped up, Wagner won the doubles point thanks to its first and second doubles pairs. Sophomore

Lukas Escher took the first doubles match six games to three, then graduate students
Tom Lamers and
Gabriele Zugarelli went the distance in their match with a seven games to six victory, securing the doubles point.
In singles, the Seahawks won the first five matches to run away with the team victory. Escher, Lamers and senior
Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez each won their matches in straight sets, while Schmidt took the full three sets to defeat his opponent. Lamers' win clinched Wagner's fourth point of the match, securing the win.
