SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Wagner College women's soccer team continued conference play with a 2–1 road victory over Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
With the win, the Seahawks improved to 6–2–5 overall and 5–1–1 in NEC play, while the Dolphins dropped to 0–12–3 (0–5–2 NEC).
After a scoreless opening half, Wagner broke through in the 66th minute when sophomore forward
Kelly Gallagher found the back of the net off an assist from freshman midfielder
Vanessa Lovisa, putting the Seahawks on the board. Just under two minutes later, sophomore forward
Anayah Rivera doubled the lead with her second goal in as many matches, finishing off a feed from Gallagher to make it 2–0 in favor of the Green & White.
Both Gallagher and Rivera have now scored in back-to-back games for the Seahawks, continuing their strong form in NEC play.
Le Moyne pulled one back in the 88th minute on a penalty kick goal, but Wagner's defense stood tall the rest of the way to secure the three points.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Abigail Marcello recorded four saves in the win, while the Seahawks outshot the Dolphins 13–10, including a 9–5 advantage in shots on target. Gallagher led Wagner with four shots (three on goal), while Rivera added two shots—both on target—including the eventual game-winner.
With four games left in the regular season and the Seahawks sitting fifth in the NEC standings—just one point behind CCSU for the final spot in the NEC Tournament—Wagner continues league play on Thursday, October 23, hosting FDU at 7:00 p.m. on Hameline Field.
