Fencing Competes At Princeton Dual Meet

Princeton, NJ - The Wagner men's and women's fencing teams faced off against Princeton in a dual meet on Tuesday. The women's team fell to the Tigers 23-4, while the men's team was defeated 17-10.

On the women's side, senior Katrina Cervenkova stood out for the epee squad, finishing 2-1 in her matches against Princeton, though her efforts were not enough to turn the tide. In the sabre squad, junior Fanny Straub, sophomore Morrigan Adams, and freshman Villo Nyiri each secured a single victory, but the squad ultimately fell 8-1. Meanwhile, the foil squad was swept 9-0 by the Tigers.

For the men's team, the sabre squad engaged in a tightly contested battle but narrowly lost 5-4. Sophomore Flavio Vinci led the way with a 2-1 performance, while sophomores Charlie Dolan and Noah Beitel each added one win. The epee and foil squads both lost their bouts 6-3, contributing to Princeton's overall victory.

The Seahawks will look to bounce back on Sunday, January 26, when they travel to Pennsylvania to compete in the Penn State Invitational.
