This Week In Wagner Athletics; Eight Teams In Action As Bowling, Fencing, Swimming & Diving, and Track & Field Return To Competition

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 

 

Men's Basketball

- The Wagner College men's basketball team will compete in two home games this weekend.

- On Saturday, January 18, the Seahawks will welcome Northeast Conference (NEC) newcomer Mercyhurst to the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm.

- Two days later on Monday, Wagner will host Saint Francis U to Grymes Hill. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

- The Green & White most recently took down conference favorite CCSU in New Britain on January 10.

Men's Fencing

- The Seahawks return to action this weekend to participate in the Philly Invitational on Saturday, January 18th.

 

Men's Swimming & Diving

- The Green & White return to action this weekend to face off against Binghamton. 

- Members of the Diving team will be traveling to Binghamton, NY to compete in the dive meet while the swim team will be hosting at Spiro Sports Center. 

 

Track & Field 

- The Seahawks will be split this week with a portion of the team competing at the Ramapo College Season Opener at The Armory in New York, NY on Friday January 17 and the other portion will be at the NYC Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

- Last week, junior Alex Taddeo set the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 21.53 while sophomore Jack Mason set another school record in the long jump with a distance of 7.46 (24-5.75). Mason's jump pushes him up to 16th best in the country this season.

 

Women's Basketball  

- The Seahawks will travel to Pennsylvania for NEC matchups against conference newcomer Mercyhurst and Saint Francis U.

- The Green & White will battle Mercyhurst first on Saturday January 18 with tip-off set for 1:00 PM in Erie, PA.

- Wagner will then head to Loretto, PA for a 7:00 PM tip against Saint Francis U on Monday, January 20.

- Last week Taleah Washington was named an NEC Prime Performer. Washington scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in a game against CCSU.

Women's Bowling 

- The Seahawks begin the 2025 portion of their schedule at the Northeast Invitational on Friday January 17 and Saturday January 18 in New Castle, DE.

 

Women's Fencing

- The Seahawks return to action this weekend to participate in the Philly Invitational on Saturday January 18th.

 

Women's Swimming & Diving

- The Green & White return to action this weekend to face off against Binghamton.
