Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to Delaware, 17-6 at Hameline Field on Saturday.
Delaware opened the game on a 3-0 run before senior Kelsey Scheidel netted the first Wagner goal with 6:00 remaining in the first quarter.
After the goal from the Islip, NY native, Delaware closed the quarter on a 3-1 run to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
Delaware outscored Wagner 5-1 in the second quarter to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.
Wagner's lone goal of the second quarter was by junior Kendra Hall.
Wagner opened the second half on a 2-0 run on goals from graduate students Nia Scott and Megan Greco. Delaware closed the third quarter on a 3-0 run to take a 14-5 lead into the fourth quarter.
Wagner's lone fourth quarter goal was scored by freshman Alex Wright, as Delaware outscored Wagner 3-1 in the final frame to earn the victory.
Nia Scott led the way offensively for Wagner with two goals and one assist.
Wagner will begin Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Wednesday, March 13 at Merrimack.
