Villanova, PA & Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team traveled to Villanova, Pennsylvania to take on Vilanova in a dual match on Friday, February 16 before hosting Sacred Heart on Sunday, February 18 at the College of Staten Island (CSI) indoor tennis courts.
In doubles on Friday against Villanova, freshman Filippo Tonnicchi and senior Rodrigo Perez dropped the first doubles match before sophomore Sebastian Dobson and freshman Naseem Rahman earned the first Wagner win with a score of 6-3.
In singles, Tonnicchi dropped his first match in a third set tiebreaker with a score of 6-3, 2-6, and 10-6. Perez also put up a valiant effort in his match going to the third set tiebreaker falling to Villanova's Ryan Nguyen.
Wagner fell to Villanova with a score of 7-0.
In doubles on Sunday, the Seahawks dropped three matches to the Pioneers.
In singles, Perez put up another fight forcing a tiebreaker third set but would fall to Sacred Heart's Matyas Vencl.
Wagner fell to Sacred Heart with a score of 7-0.
Next up, the Seahawks will host Stonehill Saturday, February 24 at the CSI indoor tennis courts.
