This Week in Wagner Athletics; Nine Teams In Action As Fencing Hosts Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Men's Basketball
- The Seahawks will take on Le Moyne on Thursday before traveling to Stonehill on Saturday. 
- Wagner most recently fell at CCSU in overtime despite being limited to just six players due to injury.

Women's Basketball
- Wagner will travel to Syracuse, NY to take on Le Moyne on Thursday night before hosting Stonehill on Saturday.
- In their last contest, the Seahawks earned a 49-45 win over Central Connecticut this past Saturday.
- Freshman Kiera Edmonds was named NEC Rookie of the Week after accumulating her first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Men's Lacrosse
- The Seahawks will begin their 2024 at Hofstra on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 pm.

Women's Water Polo
- Wagner will travel to Cambridge, MA and Providence, RI from Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4, for the Bruno Classic, hosted by Brown University.
- The Seahawks will face-off against #17 Harvard and #24 Pomona-Pitzer during the tournament.
- To kick off their 2024 campaign, the Seahawks picked up two wins at the ASU Invite, with victories over Salem University and California Lutheran University.

Swimming & Diving
- The Green & White will participate in a home-and-home series versus LIU this weekend. The last time they competed against LIU, the women prevailed, 148-114, while the men won 147-115.
- On Friday, February 2, the Seahawks will host the Sharks at 5:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center. Five seniors will be honored following the event. The next day on Saturday, February 3, the Seahawks will travel to LIU. The two-day competition will be separated into two results, one for Friday and one for Saturday.

Track & Field
- The Seahawks will split this upcoming weekend as members will participate at the METS at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, as other athletes will travel to Boston, MA for the Bruce Lehane Invite at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
- Last time out, the Green & White garnered nine top 10 finishes at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, highlighted by senior Anthony Bentivegna placing third in the third.

Women's Bowling
- Wagner came away with a 6-4 record at the New Jersey Open over this past weekend, including scoring a 984 in the first Baker-style scoring match of the tournament.
- Sophomore Angelia Lubrano finished sixth, out of 63, at the New Jersey Open, averaging 190.0 throughout the five traditional matches.
- Up next, the Seahawks will roll into Philadelphia, PA at the Griffin Baker Invite, hosted Chestnut Hill College from Saturday, February 3 to Sunday, February 4.

Women's Tennis
- The women's tennis team will take on Seton Hall at the Murray Hill Tennis Center on Saturday, February 3 at 5:45pm before heading to Columbia the next day to take on the Lions at 3pm. 
- In their last appearance, the Seahawks fell to Colgate 4-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center October, 15. 

Fencing
- The Seahawks will host the Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational on Sunday, February 4, at the Spiro Sports Center. The event will span from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with Wagner's Green & White game scheduled for 3:30 pm against Drew.
- Other schools competing at the event include Vassar, Columbia and Lafayette.
