Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's and men's track & field teams took part in the Penn Select 10 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, January 13.
The nine other schools who participated in the event, with the Seahawks, were; Penn, FDU, Rutgers, VIllanova, Lehigh, Monmouth, La Salle, Stony Brook, Columbia, and Rutgers.Â
For the women's team, sophomore Laura Trenado set a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:58.83. Trenado placed in third out of 26 finishers. This time qualified the Madrid, Spain native for the IC4A/ECAC meet.
Senior Ana Blanco Duran placed third, out of 23 participants, in the 800m, clocking in a time of 2:17.29. Freshman Magui Calvo-Jorge placed sixth in the event, finishing in 2:18.27.
Junior Ruth-Ann Chambers ran 8.99 60m hurdles in the preliminary round, and 8.91 60m hurdles in the final round, placing in fourth. Both of these times qualified the Kingston, Jamaica native for the IC4A/ECAC meet.
Joining Chambers in the 4x400m relay was freshman June Fernandez, freshman Angel Okafor, and Calvo-Jorge. The quartet produced a time of 4:01.96, which placed the Seahawks in second out of seven finishing teams.Â
In the field, sophomore Julia Garcia placed ninth in the long jump. The Isla Christina, Spain native produced her best mark on her first jump, with a mark of 5.11m. Junior Agathe Yabit followed Garcia and finished 10th, with a mark of 5.07m on her last attempt.

On the men's side, Jason Marchese came away with his second consecutive 200m win. Last week at the Wagner Invitational, Marchese finished the event with a time of 21.72. On Friday, the Staten Island, NY native placed in first out of 35 finishers with a time of 21.86.
Sophomore Alex Taddeo and freshman Dallas Jones placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 60m dash. Taddeo's final time was a personal best of 6.92 as Jones finished in 7.04. Taddeo also joined Marchese in the 200m, finishing in seventh with a time of 22.54.
Taddeo's preliminary round 60m dash was a time of 7.01, placing him in second out of 25 participants. Jones' preliminary time was 7.16, which earned him sixth.Â
Freshman Nigel Boboli ran in his first collegiate 800m run. Boboli finished in eight out of 21 runners, concluding with a time of 1:55.28. Seniors Michael Hubert and Muhammad Qadri placed 11th and 13th in the 800m, finishing with times of 1:56.32. And 1:56.76, respectively.Â
Graduate student Dominic Palermo and senior Anthony Bentivegna took part in the 3000m run. Palermo placed fourth and Bentivegna finished in seventh. Palermo's time was 8:17.28, which granted him a qualifying spot at the IC4A/ECAC meet. Bentivegna's time was a personal best of 8:29.02.
In the field, current Northeast Conference (NEC) 'Rookie of the Week' Jack Mason placed second in the triple jump and third, out of 19 jumpers, in the long jump. Mason's mark in the triple jump was 14.17m and his distance in the long jump was 7.11m. Both of these marks came on Masons' second attempts.Â
Sophomore Christopher Milillo qualified for the IC4A/ECAC meet with his third throw in the weight throw. The Iona Preparatory graduate produced a 17.26m distance on his third attempt, placing him in fourth out of 15 competitors.
Next up, the Green & White will take part in the Gotham Cup/Ramapo Opener on Friday, January 19 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
