West Long Branch, NJ - The Wagner men's tennis team traveled to Monmouth for a non-conference dual against the Hawks on Friday.
This matchup against Monmouth is the Seahawks second-to-last before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament held between Friday, April 14th to Sunday, April 16th, in New Windsor, NJ.
The Hawks started strong by sweeping the doubles point. Juniors Rodrigo Perez and Odeda Arazza lost the #2 doubles to Victor Castro and Gabriel Busato, 6-1. The senior duo of Omar Loutfy and Tejasvi Mehra trailed and was defeated, 6-2, in #1 doubles.
In singles play, Odeda Arazza was able to force a third set, but would eventually fall in the #4 singles, 7-5, 5-7, 10-6. Tejasvi Mehra was able to gain some momentum in the #2 singles, but would go down, 0-6, 4-6.
Rodrigo Perez would not be able to gain the Green & White a point in the #1 singles position, losing to Monmouth's Victor Castro, 6-2, 6-2.
Next up, Wagner will conclude their regular season on April 9th for a non-conference dual against Coppin State University.
