West Windsor, NJ - The Wagner College men's tennis team competed in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament against fourth-seeded LIU at the Mercer County Tennis Center on Friday morning.
The Seahawks finished the season 4-17 overall, and went 3-5 in conference play. This marks the most wins for the program since the 2017-2018 season, when the Seahawks went 5-0 in the NEC.
On Friday, the Sharks would prevail over the Seahawks, 4-0.
In doubles play, the senior duo of Tejasvi Mehra and Omar Loutfy dropped the #1 doubles point to the Sharks Philip Hilble and Ales D'Anna , 6-3. Juniors Rodrigo Perez and Odeda Arazza also could not gain momentum for the Seahawks as they lost the #2 doubles, 6-1.
In singles, Tejasvi Mehra brought the first set to a tie-breaker point but could not come out on top against Danila Ischanka, 7-6 (7-3). Perez and Loutfy would drop the #1 and #3 singles positions, respectively.
Arazza was able to force a third set after sweeping the second one, but would fall in #4 singles, 6-3, 0-6, 2-1.
Sophomore Jordan Hunte and freshman Sebastian Dobson finished out the Seahawks lineup, both dropping their matches at the #5 and #6 positions. Hunte lost to LIU's Akhil Indrabalan, 6-2, 6-1. Dobson was defeated, 6-1, 6-0.
Tejasvi Mehra led the Green & White in wins on the year, going 6-12 in dual matches. All six wins came from the #2 singles position. Rodrigo Perez finished the year with the most wins at the #1 singles position with three.
Freshman Sebastian Dobson ended they year 4-4 in conference play, including 5-6 from the #6 singles position. Odeda Arazza earned two wins out of three appearances at the #5 singles spot.
The tandem of Rodrigo Perez and Odeda Arazza at the #2 doubles spot went 4-4 on the season, which was good enough for the third best win percentage in the conference.
