Men’s Tennis Drops Dual 5-2 To Fordham

Harrison, NY -  The Wagner College men's tennis team traveled to Harrison, NY for a non-conference dual against the Fordham Rams on Saturday evening.

Wagner won a thrilling doubles point, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Rams in singles as the Seahawks fell 5-2.

Each of the doubles sets went to a tiebreaker as senior Abhinav Magow and junior Lucas Darling were first to finish, dropping their tiebreaker at #3, 7-6 (5). The Seahawks answered back at #2 doubles behind juniors Rodrigo Perez and Odeda Arazza, 7-6 (3). The doubles point came down to court #1, where seniors Tejasvi Mehra and Omar Loutfy put Wagner up 1-0 with a come from behind win, 7-6 (5).

The Rams stormed back as they took singles matches at #1 and #3. Wagner freshman Sebastian Dobson evened things up 2-2 with a straight sets win at #6, 6-2, 6-3. Dobson has won in both of his appearances this spring at the #6 singles.

Tejasvi Mehra won his first set at #2 singles, providing the Seahawks with a glimmer of hope, but Fordham clinched the match with a pair of straight set wins at #4 and #5 before Mehra fell in three, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Next up, the Seahawks host Merrimack in a Northeast Conference (NEC) dual at the CSI Tennis Courts on Friday, March 17th. First serve is set for noon.
