Softball Picks Up Split At Campbell

Buies Creek, NC – The Wagner College softball team opened its second weekend of competition with a doubleheader split at Campbell. In game one, the Seahawks earned a 5-2 win over Ohio before falling to the Camels 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

With the split, the Seahawks now sit at 2-3 on the season.

Game 1 Recap: Wagner 5-2 Ohio

The Seahawks' bats came alive as Wagner compiled a season-high five runs on nine hits. Graduate student Makenzie Miller and senior Bianca Worthy led the way with three hits each, while graduate student Eve Harvey earned her second win of the season with a complete game effort, striking out three batters in the process.

Wagner got on the board in the third inning, as an RBI groundout by freshman Jordyn Dulken gave the Seahawks the lead. Three batters later, senior Mackenzie Vogler came through with the bases loaded, giving the Seahawks a 3-0 advantage with a two-run single.

Ohio answered with a run in the bottom half of the third, but the Seahawks added two insurance runs in the sixth on a Miller RBI single and an Ohio error.

The Bobcats scored their second run of the game in the seventh, but it wasn't enough, as Harvey shut the door to give the Seahawks the victory.

Game 2 Recap: Campbell 3-2 Wagner

The Camels struck first in the night cap, scoring runs in the first and third inning to build a 2-0 lead.

After Worthy singled to lead off the sixth inning, Vogler turned the game upside down three batters later, launching Wagner's first home run of the season to tie the game at 2-2.

The Camels, however, earned a walk-off victory in the seventh inning on a wild pitch.

In her first collegiate start, freshman Natalie Rodriguez turned in an excellent performance in the circle despite being charged with the loss, striking out three batters in 6.2 innings

The Seahawks will be back in action tomorrow, as Wagner takes on Rider at 9:00 am before squaring off against Duke at 4:30 pm.
