This Week In Wagner Athletics; Seven Teams In Action As Men’s Water Polo Hosts Home Weekend

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for the week.

Football
- The Seahawks will take on Stonehill on Saturday at noon at Hameline Field.
- Freshman Jaylen Bonelli earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after recording 100 yards receiving in consecutive games.
- The Seahawks are 2-2 in NEC action and will look to win their second home game of the season on Saturday.

Field Hockey
- Riding a three-game winning streak, the Seahawks will wrap up regular season play on Friday, October 27 at Stonehill.
- Wagner went 2-0 this past weekend with two NEC victories. Wagner defeated LIU 2-1 in overtime on Friday, October 20 before defeating Rider 3-2 on Sunday, October 22.
- If Wagner defeats Stonehill on Friday, the Seahawks will qualify for the NEC Tournament for the third consecutive season.

Women's Soccer
- The Seahawks will close out the regular season with a road matchup at CCSU. The game is scheduled for kickoff at 4:00 pm in New Britain, CT.
- Having clinched a spot in the 2023 NEC Women's Soccer Tournament for the second time in program history, the Seahawks' seeding is still to be determined. They can finish as high as fourth and as low as sixth in the standings.

Men's Water Polo
- Wagner will play host to three Northeast Conference (NEC) opponents at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29.
- The Seahawks will welcome Mount St. Mary's at 11:00 am and George Washington at 6:00 pm on Saturday, and then will host 'Senior Day' prior to Bucknell on Sunday at 3:00 pm. 
- The MAWPC recognized Mattia Bognolo and Djordje Stoiljkovic as the 'Player of the Week' and 'Defensive Player of the Week' for their performances at the Harvard Invite.

Cross Country
- The Seahawks will compete for the NEC Championship at Brookville, NY on October 28.
- The men's team will run an 8k race, while the women's side will participate in a 5k event. 
- At last year's Championships, the men took home the crown with a team score of 37. The Green & White will seek their fourth NEC Cross Country Championship, out of the last five seasons. 

Swimming & Diving
- The Seahawks will return to action after a weekend off when they travel to Fairfield, CT for a dual meet against the Stags of Fairfield University.
- In the program's debut event of 2023 on Saturday, October 14, Olivia Bishop and Nikkolai Carrillo won NEC Swimmer of the Week while Rebekka Luoto earned NEC Rookie of the Week. Carrillo also won NEC Rookie of the Week on the men's side.

Men's Tennis
- The Seahawks will compete at the Fordham Invitational on Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29.
