This Week In Wagner Athletics; Six Teams In Action As Conference Play For Three Sports Continues

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Field Hockey
- The Seahawks will continue NEC play on Friday, October 6 when they welcome Merrimack at 4:00 pm. Wagner will then travel to Fairfield, CT to take on Sacred Heart on Sunday, October 8 at 4:00 pm.
- This past weekend the Seahawks fell to Saint Francis U 3-0 in its NEC opener before dropping a non-conference contest to Drexel 3-2.
- Against Drexel, senior Shaelyn Kobrynich and freshman Charlotte Muller found the back of the net. It was Muller's first goal as a Seahawk.

Men's Water Polo
- Wagner will be back in the pool on Wednesday, October 4, as the Seahawks will take on Fordham.
- The Seahawks came away with two wins over the weekend, defeating University of La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer at the Gary Troyer Tournament on Saturday.
- Over the last four games, sophomore Laszlo Strasser has scored 12 goals while senior Zsombor Gyemant has netted 10. 

Women's Soccer
- The Seahawks will play two games this week as they look to climb up the NEC leaderboard. A return home to Hameline Field is first on the schedule as Saint Francis U makes the trip to Staten Island. The game is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 5. A second conference match is scheduled for Sunday, October 8 at 11:00 am at Stonehill.
- Senior Kayla Barbosa netted an 84th minute game-winner at Le Moyne on Sunday, October 1 to give Wagner a crucial conference win. Junior Sam Hughes logged her fourth clean sheet of the year, all victories. 

Men's Tennis
- Men's tennis will head to Philadelphia, PA to take on the ITA Regionals hosted by University of Pennsylvania Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7. 
- Last weekend the Seahawks participated in the Hofstra Invitational. Freshman David Krasner defeated top line players from FDU and LIU to go undefeated in singles play. 

Women's Tennis
- Women's tennis will compete in the ITA Regionals hosted by Columbia this Friday, October 6 through Monday, October 9. 
- In their last outing the Seahawks lost to Monmouth in a dual match 6-1. Senior Gabrielle Perraudin secured a win for Wagner against Lana Brezanin (6-3, 6-2). 

Men's Golf

- Wagner will begin the second half of its fall schedule in Lewisburg, PA at the Bucknell Fall Invitational on Sunday, October 8. The three-day tournament will conclude on Tuesday, October 10.
- Senior Thomas Choi led the way for the Seahawks at the Columbia Autumn Invitational this past weekend. Choi finished in a tie for 19th place after shooting an overall 220 (+7) across three rounds.
