Men’s Tennis Hosts Holy Cross and Colgate

Flushing Meadows, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team hosted Holy Cross last Saturday, October 14, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Seahawks then welcomed Colgate on Sunday, October 15, at Flushing Meadows Park.

In doubles competition, Filippo Tonnicchi and Naseem Rahman secured the only win for the Seahawks defeating Teddy Callery and Alessandro Bizzarri (6-4). 

In single play, the Seahawks earned a victory thanks to freshman David Krasner, as he defeated Tedd Callery (6-2, 6-0). Senior Rodrigo Perez would also defeat Camilo Illanes in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6)). 

Holy Cross would prevail over Wagner, 4-2.

On Sunday, David Krasner and Rodrigo Perez opened the day by defeating Josh Israel and Benito Vlassis (6-1). Wagner dropped the next two doubles matches. 

Krasner would receive a singles win as he defeated Josh Israel (6-0, 6-1). The Seahawks would go on to drop the next five singles matches. 

Wagner would fall to Colgate 6-1. 

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Bronx, NY to take on the Fordham Invitational Saturday, October 28.
