Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College softball team earned a convincing sweep over Merrimack on Saturday, defeating the Warriors 9-2 in game one before earning a 3-1 victory in game two.
The wins marked the Seahawks' first victories in Northeast Conference (NEC) play this season, as the Seahawks now sit at 2-3 in league play.
The third game of the series, scheduled for Sunday, was moved to April 13 due to weather. In a corresponding move, Wagner's series at Iona was cancelled.

Five Seahawks recorded multi-hit games as the Seahawks scored five runs in the second and four runs in the third inning to take the victory.
After senior
Nora Conway gave Wagner a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the second, senior
Makenzie Miller came through with her first big hit of the afternoon, clearing the bases with a double to deep center field in giving Wagner a 4-0 advantage.
Next up, senior
Natalie Del Ponte brought home Miller with an RBI single to make it 5-0.
After the Warriors added two runs in the top of the third, the Seahawks answered with another big inning.
The Seahawks loaded the bases for Miller for a second consecutive inning and the senior delivered again, sending an RBI single to center field to plate two runs and re-establish a five-run advantage for the Green and White.
Next up, a sacrifice fly by Del Ponte and an RBI single by sophomore
Keaghan Ward gave Wagner a 9-2 lead, as the Seahawks cruised to the victory from there.

Eve Harvey earned the complete game victory, striking out six Warriors in the process.
Wagner combined for 12 hits, as Miller led the way with five RBIs on two hits.

In a low-scoring game, the Seahawks struck first in the third inning. After Miller recorded another base hit, two consecutive errors by the Warriors allowed her to score, giving Wagner a 1-0 lead.
Next up, a sacrifice fly by Ward doubled Wagner's lead and gave the Seahawks a 2-0 advantage.
In the sixth inning, senior
Nora Conway sent a home run to center field and gave Wagner a 3-0 lead.
The Warriors cut into the Wagner advantage in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough, as the Seahawks earned the sweep with a 3-1 victory.
Wagner combined for five hits throughout the contest, with junior
Bianca Worthy recording two hits.
In the circle, sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd earned the complete game win, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out five.
Next up, Wagner will travel to Lafayette on Wednesday, April 6, for a non-conference doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm.
