Brooklyn, NY – The #15 Wagner women's water polo team captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season title and the most wins in a single season with two victories on Friday.
With 31 victories, the 2022 Seahawks surpass the 2019 Seahawks who went 30-10 on their way to a MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Wagner has also wrapped up the regular season title for the seventh time in the last nine seasons after the 2020 season was cut short and Wagner opting out in 2021, the Seahawks will be the top seed in the upcoming MAAC tournament.

The contest began with junior and reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
Skye Nankervis winning the opening sprint. After LIU opened the scoring, Nankervis got the Seahawks level at one. Both teams tallied two goals each in the opening stanza while sophomore
Andrea Arias tallied both goals for the Seahawks.
LIU outscored Wagner 3-0 in the second frame to take a 6-3 lead into the halftime intermission.
A big third quarter propelled Wagner to get back in the contest as they outscored LIU 5-2 in the frame. Junior

Mar Navarro tallied two goals in the third while fifth-year senior
Malia Josephson found the back of the net once in the frame. Navarro's second goal tied the contest at eight apiece with one second remaining to send the game tied to the final stanza.
Two fourth quarter goals from senior
Sofia Diaz Alvarez propelled the Seahawks to a 4-2 run in the final eight minutes to secure the 13th consecutive victory for Wagner, 12-10.

Abbey Simshauser tallied one goal apiece in the final stanza as well.
Senior goalkeeper and reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
Kristina Bell stopped nine shots in the contest to go along with one steal.
#15 Wagner (21) vs. St. Francis Brooklyn (4)
The Seahawks claimed its 14th consecutive victory and wrapped up the MAAC regular season title and program best 31st victory in the final game of the day against St. Francis Brooklyn.
Wagner outscored St. Francis Brooklyn 5-2 in the opening stanza thanks in part to four different goal scorers.
Andrea Arias led the way with two goals in the quarter while

Mar Navarro chipped in with one goal each.
The Seahawks put a stamp on the contest when they outscored the Terriers 5-1 in the second frame to open up an 11-3 lead heading to the halftime intermission.

Pip Nash pitched in with one goal each in the frame.
Wagner carried its momentum into the second half when they outscored St. Francis Brooklyn 10-1 in the final 16 minutes of play to preserve a 21-4 victory.

Kristina Bell stopped seven shots in the victory for Wagner.
The Seahawks will have a chance to claim its second 15-game winning streak of the season tomorrow, April 16 against Marist in the regular season finale at 4:00 P.M. at McCann Natatorium on ESPN3
