Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's soccer team (3-6-0; 0-2-0 NEC) fell 3-1 in a Sunday morning road match against the Howard University (3-3-0; 2-1-0 NEC).
Junior forward
Madison Carr netted the Seahawks' lone goal of the day and her team-leading fifth of the season. Freshman goalkeeper
Sam Hughes finished with five saves while her counterpart, Alayah Hightower, made one stop in the contest.

- Wagner will close out the short two-game road trip on Thursday, September 30 at 5:00 p.m. when they will travel to Emmitsburg, MD to tangle with the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers.
FIRST HALF
- The Bison struck two minutes into the contest as Kyra Bolden was able to curl one from the right that got past the reach of Hughes, giving Howard an early 1-0 lead.
- In the 40th minute of play, Wagner's Isabella Manzella put forth the visitors first shot on target, as she fired one to the bottom right, but was unsuccessful as Hightower was there for the save.
- Howard increased its lead in the closing moments of the half, 2-0, as Rachel Asare was able to find the back of the net after Savannah Hersh sent the corner kick attempt into a spot where Asare was able to convert the scoring chance.
SECOND HALF
- The Seahawks was able to withstand early chances by Howard to start the second half, as Hughes came up with back-to-back stops on a pair of attempts by Allen.
- On Howard's next possession, the Bison were able to up its lead, 3-0, as Zoe Moore put one past Hughes off the feed from Allen.
- Carr recorded her team-leading fifth goal of the season, as she was able to create space and fire one past Hightower
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Wagner was outshot by Howard, 13-7, with the Bison holding an 8-2 edge on shots on target.
- Hughes made five saves, four of which coming in the second half of play to just one by Hightower.
- The Seahawks lost the corner kicks battle, 3-2.
- Wagner was whistled for seven fouls as opposed to Howard's nine.
- Carr recorded a team-leading three shots while junior tri-captain, Maddie Wilde, added two shot attempts.
- Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Filja made her return to the Seahawks after she represented her home country of Albania in the World Cup Qualifiers. She logged 67 minutes in a reserve role this morning.
