Buffalo, NY –
The Wagner College football team dropped a 69-7 decision at Football Bowl Championship (FBS) member Buffalo on Thursday night at UB Stadium.

The Bulls jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and built a comfortable advantage from there, before the Seahawks got on the board in the fourth quarter. After graduate student Joe Schmidt recovered a muffed punt with 10:37 to play, sophomore quarterback LeShane Taylor ran the ball in from four yards out for the Seahawks' first points of the season.
Taylor entered the game in relief of starter Jaalon Frazier, who was Wagner's leading passer with 79 yards through the air while also gaining a team-high 29 yards on 13 carries on the night. Sophomore Naiem Simmons led the Green and White with two catches for 31 yards through the air.

Defensively, sophomore Christian Davis led the Seahawks with seven tackles, while sophomore Jalin Justice and junior Shane Quast picked up six tackles apiece.

For Buffalo, quarterback Kyle Vantrease threw for 231 yards and running back Ron Cook rushed for a game-high 94 yards, as the Bulls opened their season with the victory.

The Seahawks will open Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Saturday, September 11, as they host Central Connecticut at 3:00 pm at Hameline Field.
