Women's Soccer Falls To Bryant 1-0 On Senior Night

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Bryant at home on Friday evening. Friday marked the fourth loss this season for the Seahawks by a single goal. 

Wagner falls to 0-5-1 on the season and 0-4-1 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action while the Bulldogs improve to 3-3-0 and 3-2-0 in league matches. 

Before the match, Wagner honored its senior class in a pregame ceremony. Mya Donnelly, tri-captain Le'la Allen, Madison Starr, Julia Fitzsimmons, and Kerry-Anne Maher each made the start.



The goal by Bryant came in the 22nd minute of play on Becca Michaud's first goal of the season on a free-kick.  
Michaud's was able to put one past the Wagner wall and beat sophomore goalkeeper, Erin Kelly, as the ball went into the back of the net. 

The visitors tested Kelly early on as Katie Cronin and Lexi Kraemer with a pair of shots, but the second-year Seahawk goalkeeper was able to keep the Bulldogs off the board. 

Junior tri-captain Luisa Barone nearly put Wagner ahead but her shot was turned aside by Bryant's Meghan Dalton. The Seahawks' best chance came in the 34th minute as Mya Donnelly lofted a shot that was deflected away by Dalton, as Wagner was awarded a second corner from the left side.

n this set-piece, Donnelly was able to send the ball that found Jordyn Price, whose header was blocked in the box. The ball was sent into the air, as Gabby Cipriano leaped up and placed a header on the ball, but was stopped by Dalton. 

Wagner outshot Bryant, 7-5, in the opening half but the Bulldogs finished the game, 13-10 (7-5 shots on goal). 

Kelly stopped six shots on the evening. For the Massapequa, NY native, it marks the sixth straight game that she has recorded six or more saves in a match. Donnelly finished with four shots on the night. Barone found two shots on net to pace the Seahawks' offense. 

Kraemer led Bryant with five shots while she and Katie Cronin each had three shots on target. Dalton was credited with five shots on the night. 

Wagner concludes its home slate on Tuesday, April 6 as the Seahawks welcome Central Connecticut to Hameline Field.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
