10 In A Row! Seahawks Make History With 83-63 Win At Central Connecticut

New Britain, CT – The Wagner men's basketball team earned its 10th straight victory with a dominant 83-63 win at Central Connecticut on Thursday night, giving the Seahawks their longest winning streak since the 1978-79 season.
With the victory, the Seahawks remain in first place in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with an 11-4 conference mark and have clinched a spot in the four-team NEC tournament.

Wagner's 10-game winning streak is the longest winning streak in the NEC since the 2010-11 season.
Senior Alex Morales once again filled the stat sheet, leading the Seahawks with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, marking his seventh double-double and fourth game with seven or more assists this season. Fellow senior Elijah Ford also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman phenom DeLonnie Hunt finished with 11 points on the night.
The Seahawks never trailed throughout the contest and took their first double-digit lead seven minutes into the game on a Ford jumper that made it 16-6. The Blue Devils cut the lead to 29-28 with 3:03 remaining in the first half, but a 6-0 Wagner run in the final two minutes of the half made it 37-30 at the half.
Powered by 10 points by Ford in just four minutes, the Seahawks quickly put the game away early in the second half, as the senior made it 50-36 with 16:05 to play.
Two minutes later, Morales stole the inbound pass after a Nigel Jackson jumper and converted the layup, capping a 10-0 Wagner run to make it 56-36 with 14:49 to play, as the Seahawks earned another road victory.
The Seahawks' defense held the Blue Devils to 22-62 (35.5%) shooting from the field, while converting on 35-69 (50.7%) shots on the offensive end.

The Green and White dominated the glass all night, out-rebounding CCSU 46-32 on the night, including nine offensive rebounds in the first half. On the night, the Seahawks outscored the Blue Devils 50-26 in the paint.

The Seahawks also stayed perfect on the free throw line, converting all six of their opportunities. The Green and White have now hit on 49 of their last 56 free throws across the last six games, an 87.5% conversion rate.

The two teams will meet again in the second game of the series at 4:00 pm tomorrow.
