Postgame Interview...
Head Coach Heather Jacobs
  • Opening Statement...
    • "Overall, I'm really proud of the team's effort, especially defensively. We set goals for games and today we executed our three defensive goals."
    • "As a group though, I thought they were locked in."
  • On Defensive Effort…
    • "We are going to change it up. We are going to mix it up. We know that teams are going to expect that but it is something we pride ourselves on and I think that speaks largely to the group we have. The maturity to make adjustments, to be prepared, to see if its going to be one thing and then another… to do it and to do it well, it's a credit to the girls.
  • On Three Players Scoring In Double-Figures…
    • "You know, Emilija (Krista Grava) and Kem (Nwabudu) are quite the duo… Both of them are All-Conference players, Emilija last season and Kem at her previous institution, so it is tough to guard one of them, let alone both at the same time."
    • "For them, they share the ball, so whoever is putting the ball in, is putting the ball in and for me and the coaching staff, it is really fun to watch."
    • "They want to win…Period… We are looking to take advantage of that… We know and they know they (Krista and Nwabudu) are going to get doubled, but our shooters will be ready to shoot or get the ball and send it back to them."
  • On 15-2 Run To Start Second Quarter Run and Merrimack's 12-0 Run Response…
    • "I can't take any credit for that. That was the team settling in which made me say, 'okay, we are here now."
    • "We were a little bit out-of-sorts today, but, overall happy to learn some lessons with the win."
Junior forward, Emilija Krista Grava
  • On today's game…
    • "I think we did a good job in sharing the ball and capitalizing on fast-breaks."
  • Chemistry with Kem (Nwabudu) and Zhaneia (Thybulle)…
    • "I think that the chemistry is starting to develop… We are getting used to one another's game and for Z (Zhaneia), she facilitates the offense, so to continue building on that chemistry will be strong for all of us."
Junior guard, Zhaneia Thybulle
  • On today's game…
    • "We came in and executed on the game plan. We applied pressure on their ball handlers, boxed-out."
  • On career-high 12 points and five assist performance…
    • "It felt good. Going into practice and talking with Coach Jacobs about what I need to do for the team and for the rest of the season… I just had to get my feet wet and get it going."

Up Next...
  • Wagner and Merrimack conclude their season series on Saturday afternoon with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m. at Hammel Court.
