Head Coach
Michelle Tumolo:
"This was a full, 60-minute team win. I am so proud of the effort these players displayed today. Offensively, it's a pretty exceptional day when you score 19 goals and four players finish with hat tricks. Defense sparked our runs with huge caused turnovers and we were perfect on our clear attempts. These are all things we've been practicing and talking about all week long. We put the pieces together and cane out with a huge road win."
How it Happened – First Half:
Wagner answered a pair of two-goal spurts from Colgate with two of their own over the first 12+ minutes. Peluso and Seims helped square things at 2-all before Tucci's and Falcone's respective first goals of the day squared things at 4-all.
Wagner took a 5-4 lead when Drum buried her ninth goal of the season, giving her a goal in 12 of her last 13 games dating back to last season. Seims added her second of the day and Cerrone notched her first of the day less than 30 seconds later, giving the Green and White a 7-4 lead at the 10:45 mark.
After Patterson got Colgate back within two, Falcone and Kerstetter upped Wagner's lead to 9-5. Patterson added another to pull Colgate back within three, 9-6, at the half.
How it Happened – Second Half:
Twice in the second half, Colgate pulled within a goal, but the Seahawks did not yield the lead. Tucci and Kerstetter answered a half-opening two-goal run from the Raiders with goals of their own, pushing the Seahawk advantage back to 11-8.
Then, after Colgate turned a 13-9 game into a 13-12 game, Cerrone scored the bookending goals during a game-deciding 5-0 run for Wagner, spanning nearly seven minutes, during which time the Raiders mustered just two shots on goal. The run pushed the Seahawks out to an 18-12 lead with 3:37 to play. Patterson added her fifth and Seims added her fourth in the closing minutes for the final goals of the afternoon.
Glace, Dorney and Drum all finished with at least one ground ball, one caused turnover and one draw control.
