Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College baseball team, playing at Richmond County Bank Ballpark for the first time this season, trailed Seton Hall by just a 7-5 count heading into the eighth inning before the Pirates tacked on four more runs over the final two frames in defeating the Seahawks, 11-7, on Tuesday afternoon.

Will Johnson had two hits in today's contest while driving in an RBI. Sophomore catcher
Brandon Hall went 1-for-2, scoring three of the seven runs.
Kevin Wiseman, who came on for starter
Koby Bishop, tossed four innings of two-hit ball, in which he allowed one run on two hits while striking out five and walking two. Senior southpaw,
Keaton Freire, took the loss, throwing three frames while giving up five earned runs on seven hits.
Matt Toke had three hits for the visitors while Connor Hood and Tyler Shedler-McAvoy each drove in three RBIs in leading Seton Hall to victory.
Seton Hall got the scoring going with two runs in the first before junior designated hitter
Freddy Sabido lofted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Hall on the play to make it 2-1
Following a scoreless fourth, the Pirates tacked on four more runs in taking a 6-1 lead in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Toke sent a single back up the middle for Seton Hall's fourth score of the game. The next batter, Shedler-McAvoy, sent a single to left field, plating two more runs as the visitors lead by five.
Wagner managed to get two runs back in the bottom of the frame. Hall drew a leadoff walk. Sophomore
Emil Matti singled to center before both runners moved into scoring position off the fielder's choice from newcomer,
Alex Cimaroli. Hall came into score on a wild pitch from starter, Brennan O'Neill, before senior shortstop and newly-minted Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week,
Anthony Pecora, sent a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Matti.
Both teams scored a run in their half of the sixth as the Hall claimed a 7-4 advantage heading into the back third of the contest. Junior
Griffin Schneider singled and advanced to second on the throw which scored Johnson in cutting the Seton Hall lead to three.
The Green & White added one more score in the bottom of the seventh off the bat of Johnson, who ripped a single up the first baseline that scored Sabido to make it 7-5. Seton Hall went ahead 8-5 in the top of the eighth scoring on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Seahawks scored twice, to bring the lead down to one 8-7. Hall singled to left that scored Schneider, who reached first after the Pirates catcher dropped the third strike. Hall came into score on a wild pitch.
In the ninth, the Pirates added three more scores in upping their Lead to 11-7 as Shedler-McAvoy sent an RBI double down the left field line that moved the score to 9-7. Hood sent a two-run base hit as the the lead increased to 11-7. The Seahawks were retired, in order, in the bottom of the inning on a trio of strikeouts from Corey Sawyer, who earned the save for Seton Hall.
Wagner closes out the homestand tomorrow afternoon when the Seahawks welcome Saint Peter's for a 3:00 p.m. start at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
