Newark, NJ – The Wagner College men's tennis team concluded play at the two-day NJIT Winter Invitational, as the Green & White collected a total of seven victories Sunday.
In doubles round two, first doubles, seniors
Anatoliy Lashkul and
Dale Sandy were victorious over the Hofstra duo of Marcus Smith and Jan Leithner, 6-3. They also earned a 6-2 win in round three of the first doubles over Bucknell's Ryan Jurist and Max McDonald.
In third doubles, graduate transfer
Lucas Gonzalez and junior
Dylan Walters picked up a 6-4 win over the Hofstra combo of Julian Wolfe and Giacomo Pezzoli.
Lashkul earned a 6-1; 6-2 triumph in singles round three, first singles, over Andrei Vitiuc of Bucknell. Junior
Hans Ohrner was able to outlast Max McDonald of Bucknell, 3-6; 6-3; 10-7.
Senior
Eric Poland collected a 6-2; 4-6; 10-5 victory over NJIT's Aleksa Petrovic in singles round three, fifth singles. Concluding the tournament, Sandy earned a hard-fought, 4-6; 6-3; 10-6 win over Hofstra's Pezzoli.
The Green & White will be in action on February 3 as Wagner travels to West Long Branch, NJ to take on Monmouth. The match is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
